I am insane, and my son has always been "portable child." I went to TRF 40 weeks pregnant, had him three days after camping out for the weekend, and the next year, when he was just one year old, he was out there camping out with us. We only took him on warm weekends (not last weekend) until he was about four. For the last three years, I bring him and my nephews one weekend, and we camp two nights, go in for one day. Then, I go back without any kids for last weekend because it is my only grown-up excursion for the year. It's a tradition for me. Once they are teenagers (like 15) they can go with me on last weekend.
